For my professional experience year (PEY), a year long internship option at UofT, I had the immense pleasure of working at Verity Studios in Zurich, Switzerland. When I wasn't distracted by the snow-peaked mountain vistas, I supported the research and development of the 25 person startup by rapidly developing prototypes, fabricating fixtures, and implementing electro-mechanical test rigs. From testing propellers to climbing 25m off the ground to hang equipment on-site, I got my feet wet in every step along the way to creating world class autonomous drone shows.
The technical highlight of my work here addressed the logistical difficulty in deploying our indoor radio system, dozens of which must be dispersed and fixed around the flight space. This has to be done at least once for each of the frequent temporary shows/events the company participates in. I successfully designed, tested, and implemented a modular, packable, and quick to set up reusable mounting system that simplified planning and tripled valuable on-site deployment speeds.
